Dr. DeMillo adds a wealth of industry knowledge, experience and strategic insight to help extend RSA Security's leadership position
Bedford, MA RSA Security Inc. (NASDAQ: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security®, today announced that it has appointed Dr. Richard A. DeMillo, vice president of technology strategy at HP, to its board of directors.
Dr. DeMillo is responsible for shaping the company's technology agenda, evaluating technology standards initiatives, allocating technical resources and conducting periodic technology audits. In addition, Dr. DeMillo has been focused on helping HP build a world-class software business. Prior to joining HP, Dr. DeMillo was vice president and general manager responsible for computer science research, Internet systems and software strategy at Telcordia Technologies.

During his career, Dr. DeMillo has held several key government positions. He was director of the Computer and Computation Research Division at the National Science Foundation. From 1981 to 1986 he was director of the Software Test and Evaluation Project for the Department of Defense. He is widely credited with architecting the Department of Defense's policy for test and evaluation of software-intensive systems. Dr. DeMillo is also the author of more than 100 technical articles and books, and is best known for his work in software engineering, theoretical computer science and cryptography. He is one of the originators of modern research in cryptographically based security methods and is a co-inventor of differential fault cryptanalysis.

Dr. DeMillo replaces James Bidzos, who has retired from the RSA Security board after many years of service. Mr. Bidzos will continue to remain Chairman of the RSA Conference. "We owe Jim a tremendous debt of gratitude for his leadership of RSA Data Security, and his invaluable advice to both the board and company management," added Coviello. "He has been a significant force in the development of the industry, and we thank him for his many contributions."
