Microsoft® Active Directory™

The Microsoft Active Directory service forms a central component of the Windows 2000 platform. Under Windows 2000, Active Directory acts as a central authority that authenticates user identities and controls access to network resources. Active Directory provides a place to store information about network-based entities, such as application, files, printers and people. Active Directory also provides a consistent way to name, describe, locate, access, manage and secure information about these entities. Active Directory interoperates with RSA Certificate Manager software and RSA Access Manager.
