RSA® Conference 2001 Opens Today in San Francisco
World's Largest Security Expo Features Leading Speakers from Industry and Government

RSA® CONFERENCE, SAN FRANCISCO— RSA Conference 2001, the largest cryptography and data security conference in the world, opens today at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Recognized as the industry's premier data security and cryptography gathering, RSA Security Inc. (NASDAQ: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security™, expects this year's event to break previous attendance records with more than 10,000 decision-makers and influencers from a range of sectors, including consumer, education, financial, government, computer networking, telecommunications and the media.

Sponsored by RSA Security, Compaq, Computer Associates, EDS, Hewlett Packard, Intel, Microsoft, nCipher and VeriSign, this tenth annual security conference and exposition will open with a special presentation by Jim Bidzos, conference chairman and vice chairman of RSA Security. Opening day continues with feature keynote presentations from industry leaders and national policy makers, including venture capitalist Floyd Kvamme, who was recently named by President George Bush to head the President's Council of Advisers on Science and Technology (PCAST). Other keynote presenters include authors Steven Levy and Paul Erdman; and Jill Tarter, researcher in the area of extra-terrestrial life.

RSA® Conference 2001 features more than 200 classes, 250 vendors, and nearly 200 individual breakout sessions on topics ranging from the latest in cutting-edge cryptographic research to the most current implementations of enterprise security and secure electronic commerce.

The Fourth Annual RSA Awards, which honor outstanding contributions in the field of cryptography, will also be presented at RSA Conference 2001. Awards will be made to an individual or an organization in the area of mathematics, industry and public policy.

The RSA Conference 2001 will close Thursday after with a special show by comedian and Saturday Night Live alumnus Dana Carvey.

New Conference Tracks
Reflecting security's increasingly important role in an expanding array of application areas, RSA Conference 2001 features several new conference tracks in addition to the tracks presented at last year's conference:

  • The Industry Track will present industry-specific case studies and solutions in the areas of finance, application service providers (ASPs), healthcare/biotech and telecom/wireless.
  • The Threats Track will present talks about hacking, attacks, network forensics and countermeasures.
  • The Government Track will cover topics of interest to the public sector and the industries that serve it, including federal, state and local contractors and government employees.
  • The Law and Policy Track will present topics of interest to lawmakers, privacy and civil-rights activists, policy-makers, lawyers and public-interest groups.

In addition, for the first time, proposals for the Cryptographers' Track were academically refereed by a cross-section of experts in this important field, and the proceedings of the Cryptographers' Track will be published in Springer Verlag's Lecture Notes in Computer Science.
