Requirements to capture data for compliance and security increases storage demand
WESTWOOD, Mass [Network Intelligence, a privately-held leader in transforming enterprise-wide data into compliance and security information, joined RSA, The Security Division of EMC, after its acquisition by EMC in September 2006.]
Network Intelligence™ Corp., the market-proven leader in transforming enterprise-wide data into automated compliance and security information, today announced it has completed integration of Network Intelligence Security Information and Event Information technology (SIEM) with the EMC® Centera™ content addressed storage (CAS) solution.
Companies are facing growing storage and archival needs from regulatory compliance laws and regulations such as Sarbanes Oxley, GLBA and HIPAA. A critical component to efficiently achieving IT compliance and enterprise-wide security, Network Intelligence’s LogSmart® Internet Protocol Database (IPDB) allows enterprise customers to automatically capture and analyze security event and operational information from their network, security, application, operating and storage system environments and then archive it to EMC Centera.
The compliance and security information collected by Network Intelligence is quickly becoming mission critical, pushing organizations to define data retention and archival strategies. Based upon the company’s extensive experience with Fortune 500 companies, Network Intelligence projects organizations of this size will need to capture, manage and analyze anywhere from twenty five thousand to over one million sustained events per second (EPS). Depending upon each company’s individual compliance and security data retention policies, the storage necessary to retain this information ranges from 17 to 650 terabytes per company annually. When archival and disaster recovery requirements are factored in, the Fortune 500 as a group will exceed 100 Petabytes of total storage for this new type of reference data.
Integration with EMC Centera allows customers to capture, analyze and now for the first time, cost-effectively store compliance and security information as part of their mission-critical IT operations
“A complete compliance strategy includes a cost-effective storage lifecycle plan. With integration with EMC Centera CAS, Network Intelligence is able to provide hundreds of customers with a complete chain of custody compliance program,” said Jim Melvin, executive vice president of marketing and business development at Network Intelligence.
Roy Sanford, Vice President of Content Addressed Storage at EMC, said, “The integration between Network Intelligence’s Security Information and Event Information technology (SIEM) and EMC Centera will bring added value to joint customers. As the world’s first CAS solution, the EMC Centera platform addresses the unique requirements of fixed content as an active archive, while SIEM complements our ILM offerings for compliance and security.”
