- Awards to be presented at opening of RSA® Conference Europe 2005
London The organisers of RSA Conference Europe today announced that the European Information Security Awards 2005 call for entries is officially open. The awards will be presented at the beginning of the sixth annual RSA Conference Europe in Vienna on 17 th October, 2005. The aim of these awards is to recognise and reward some of the most impressive and innovative achievements in the field of information security across Europe, and will be judged by a panel of respected industry professionals.
The European Information Security Awards 2005 are open to all individuals, companies and organisations with appropriate projects that have been active within a European country in the past year. The awards are completely independent and the finalists and winners of these will represent the elite in their field.
The 2005 Awards Categories are:
- Policy: Recognising the development and promotion of Information Security through the development of Policy. – Sponsored by ISSA and BSA
- Research & Development: Recognising future potential and awarded to individuals / organisations achieving security excellence in the field of R&D. – Sponsored by RSA Laboratories
- Education & Training: Recognising innovation and excellence in the field of Information Security Education and Training. – Sponsored by Royal Holloway and Cranfield Universities
- Implementation: Recognising security excellence in end user implementations. – Sponsored by BT

A sponsoring committee has been created for each award category and will comprise members of the industry, academic community and public sector. Each committee will review the nominations submitted and select a winner. Judges include Jim Reavis, International Board Member, ISSA; Francisco Mingorance, Director of Public Policy, BSA-Europe; Dr Burt Kalisky, RSA Labs; Professor Fred Piper, Royal Holloway University and Professor Brian Collins, Cranfield University.
