Strategic business value of security and NEXUS architecture drive new product naming conventions
BEDFORD, Mass. As part of its strategy to bring all of its solutions onto a common identity management system, RSA Security Inc. (Nasdaq: RSAS) today announced its intent to introduce new product naming conventions over the next six months.
The genesis of the new product branding was last year’s unveiling of RSA Security’s next-generation identity management system, codenamed “NEXUS.” NEXUS is designed to integrate RSA Security’s solutions onto a single common platform, and to serve as the foundation for the company’s future authentication and access management solutions.
The new naming conventions will affect the company’s products beginning this quarter and will continue throughout the year. New product introductions will immediately reflect the new naming conventions. The company’s recognized authentication and encryption brands, RSA SecurID® authentication and RSA BSAFE® encryption, will not be affected.
“For comprehensive identity management solutions to add broad business value, they must be easy to deploy, manage and maintain,” said John Worrall, vice president of worldwide marketing at RSA Security. “NEXUS delivers on that promise by integrating some of the industry’s most powerful e-security products under a single technology architecture. Our new product naming convention will reflect this integration.”
The change reflects a market shift to deploy the company’s identity and access management solutions as business enablement tools, as well as the growing importance of security in a connected world.
About NEXUS
The NEXUS architecture features a standards-based set of common services that
allow for central administration and tighter integration between various components
of a complete identity management system. Components of the NEXUS architecture
are already used in the RSA ClearTrust® web access management solution,
the RSA Validation Manager solution and in RSA Mobile technology. Additionally,
the company’s secure enterprise access solutions will feature components
of NEXUS beginning in June 2004. This modular, but integrated approach will
allow customers to choose the solution they need today and then leverage their
investment to further expand their identity management infrastructure to include
other RSA Security solutions and partner products in the future.
