RSA Security Supports Open Mobile Alliance DRM 2.0 for Delivery of Secure Content

BEDFORD, Mass.— RSA Security Inc. (NASDAQ: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security®, today announced that it will help enable the secure delivery of rich media content to consumers via trusted mobile network devices through the support of the OMA DRM 2.0 Enabler Release. RSA Security collaborated with the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), an industry organization delivering specifications for interoperable mobile service enablers across the world, and co-authored the new security and trust features in OMA DRM 2.0. The enhanced security in OMA DRM 2.0 is designed to enable the protection of premium content such as music tracks, video clips, and games from unauthorized usage and copying. RSA Security is currently planning to deliver an OMA DRM 2.0 compatible solution later this year.

Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology adds value for all parties with an interest in the content business. OMA DRM 2.0 is designed to support DRM throughout the entire mobile value chain including content providers, mobile network operators, network infrastructure providers, and handset manufacturers. For content owners, it allows them to make efficient use of new mobile distribution channels while ensuring that their rights are protected and content creators and other affiliates are compensated appropriately. For mobile network operators and device manufacturers, the protections provided by DRM technology will help spur development of new end-user features and new kinds of mobile content services. RSA Security’s support of this standard helps ensure that any future DRM solutions are compatible with the widest array of trusted mobile network devices.

“Consumers not only want access to rich digital media content, they want to be able to use that content on any device they own,” said Rick Welch, vice president of developer solutions and professional services at RSA Security. “Mobile operators, content providers and device manufacturers want to provide the most desirable experience for consumers through the creation of a network of trusted devices that make digital content more portable. RSA Security is in the forefront of driving the development of this network of trusted devices through our leadership and support of open standards like OMA DRM 2.0.”

RSA Security is a member of the OMA, along with companies such as Cisco, Intel, Microsoft, Real Networks, Phillips, Sony and Vodafone. For more information on the OMA DRM specification please visit the OMA Web site at: http://www.openmobilealliance.org/tech/release.html.
