RSA Security Joins National Cyber Security Alliance in Support of Stay Safe Online Campaign

Washington, DC— RSA Security Inc. (NASDAQ: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security®, today announced that the company has joined the National Cyber Security Alliance in support of the Stay Safe Online campaign (http://www.staysafeonline.info), a national information security awareness program aimed at small businesses and consumers. The Alliance has the goal of reaching out to millions of users during the next year and includes several government and industry partners, including: U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Trade Commission, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The purpose of the Stay Safe Online Campaign is to continue raising awareness of the importance of cyber security and to encourage all Internet users to protect their computer systems and personal information. The Stay Safe Online Campaign designates October 26, the day Americans roll back their clocks, to promote cyber security and protection practices among businesses and home users.

“Consumers and small businesses can play an important role in securing cyberspace by adopting sound information security practices,” said Art Coviello, president and CEO at RSA Security. “In order to reduce cyber threats to our critical information infrastructure and to combat identity theft, home users and businesses need to secure their systems, and the Stay Safe Online campaign provides the basics on how to do that.”

As a market leader in online security, RSA Security is taking an active role in several major industry initiatives to help educate businesses and consumers on how to better secure their information assets and digital identities. Recently, RSA Security has announced its active participation in the ID Theft Prevention Coalition. In addition, Art Coviello is a member of TechNet’s Cyber Security Task Force (www.technet.org) and RSA Security is a member of the Business Software Alliance’s Information Security Governance Task Force (www.bsa.org) – two industry initiatives that are focusing on corporate IT security governance at the senior management level. RSA Security has also published a white paper on identity theft available at http://www.rsasecurity.com/solutions/idmgt/whitepapers/IDT_WP_1003.pdf.

“The Alliance is another example of how industry is working with government to implement the National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace,” added Coviello. “This is an important initiative that can help empower consumers and small businesses to secure their computer systems and combat cyber-crime. We must all do our part to secure cyberspace and we encourage others in the private sector to support this effort as well.”
