BEDFORD, Mass. RSA Security Inc. (NASDAQ: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security®, today announced the appointment of James K. Sims to the position of non-Executive Chairman of its Board of Directors. Mr. Sims fills the seat vacated by Mr. Charles Stuckey, who resigned as part of a planned transition, after serving as chairman for seven years.
As reported in RSA Security’s April 9, 2003 proxy statement, Mr. Stuckey will continue to serve as a member of the Company’s board of directors. In addition to serving most recently as Chairman of the Board, Stuckey previously served as president and CEO of RSA Security and Security Dynamics from 1987 to 2000.
“Under Chuck’s leadership, RSA Security experienced significant growth and became the recognized market leader in authentication solutions,” said Art Coviello, president and CEO at RSA Security. “He has been a significant force in the development of the industry, and we owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for his leadership and contribution to the company. We look forward to his continuing presence and wisdom as a member of our board.”
Mr. Sims has more than 35 years of experience in high technology industries, and is Founder and Executive Chairman of GEN3 Partners, a science-based technology company specializing in the delivery of breakthrough solutions and real innovation results. Previously, James founded and served as president and chief executive officer of Cambridge Technology Partners, an international management consulting company, from 1991 until 1999. As CEO, he led the firm’s global expansion to 4,500 employees and $625 million in sales, including strategic acquisitions and the establishment of 41 offices throughout North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Cambridge Technology Partners, Mr. Sims founded Concurrent Computer Corporation, a $340 million, 3,500-employee operation, where he served as chairman, president and CEO. Mr. Sims was first elected to RSA Security’s Board of Directors in 1997, and has served as Vice Chairman of the Board since 2002.
“Jim’s invaluable contributions and long-standing commitment to RSA Security have made a lasting impact on the Company’s ability to compete vigorously in the identity and access management space,” added Coviello. “The Company’s move to appoint a non-executive chairman adheres with corporate governance practices and brings a new perspective to the company.
