RSA SecurID® two-factor authentication software a key component of Microsoft’s new solution
Bedford, MA RSA Security Inc. (Nasdaq: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security®, today announced that it has collaborated with Microsoft Corp. to add two-factor authentication functionality into the Microsoft® Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 Feature Pack 1, which delivers enhanced security and ease of use beyond that of traditional firewalls for Web server, Exchange Server and Exchange Outlook Web Access deployments. A key component of Feature Pack 1 is the support for RSA SecurID® two-factor authentication software, which helps provide a secure, simple and highly reliable way to verify a user’s identity before granting access to network resources.
RSA Security and Microsoft are working together to provide security solutions that offer customers a new level of interoperability and flexibility for mission-critical information, applications and resources. RSA Security has given Microsoft a license for the RSA ACE/Agent® component of the award-winning RSA SecurID two-factor authentication software, allowing Microsoft the option of directly integrating the RSA SecurID agent into Microsoft applications. ISA Server is the first Microsoft product to use this capability.
“The release of ISA Server Feature Pack 1 marks an important step for the Security Business Unit as we continue to make new resources available that help our customers maintain network security,” said Craig Fiebig, general manager of the Security Business Unit at Microsoft Corp. “These new features, including the integration of RSA SecurID software, address the importance of having additional layers of security for e-mail and Web server deployments.”
Developed in direct response to feedback from Microsoft customers, ISA Server Feature Pack 1 delivers benefits in three key areas: security for e-mail server computers, security for Web and Outlook® Web Access server computers, and ease of use in Exchange, Outlook Web Access and intranet access scenarios. In addition to support for RSA SecurID software, ISA Server Feature Pack 1 includes improved filtering technology that boosts e-mail security by helping keep out unwanted messages, and the integration of URLScan, a scanning tool that helps protect Web and Outlook Web Access server computers from evolving types of Internet attacks. System administrators will benefit from scenario walkthroughs, technical documentation and wizards that answer commonly asked questions and make configuring ISA Server to protect Exchange Server and IIS much simpler.
“As part of its work with Microsoft, RSA Security is focused on providing organizations with the tools necessary to implement e-business processes within a secure, trusted and convenient environment,” said Bill McQuaide, senior vice president, Authentication division at RSA Security. “We are pleased to assist Microsoft in delivering a comprehensive security solution like ISA Server with Feature Pack 1.”
