RSA Conference: Final Agenda Includes More Tutorials & Presentation by Public Key Cryptography’s Founding Father
  • Third RSA Conference in Europe opens in two weeks
  • Microsoft to host tutorials on securing the Microsoft® Windows® platform
  • Whitfield Diffie, CSO at Sun Microsystems, to present at public session
  • Day passes now available

BRACKNELL, United Kingdom— Organisers of the RSA® Conference today announced the completed schedule for their third annual e-security conference and exposition in Europe, which will open in two weeks’ time at Le Palais des Congrès in Paris. The event runs from 7th – 10th October.

Further tutorials have been added to the schedule: Microsoft will host a free-of-charge three-hour session on the Conference’s opening day, entitled “Securing the Windows Platform”. Presented by Steven Adler, senior security strategist at Microsoft’s EMEA headquarters, the tutorial will provide attendees with an overview of how to architect Microsoft® Windows® platforms to improve their security and better withstand attempts to gain unauthorised access. This is open to Full Conference delegates only.

Whitfield Diffie, chief security officer at Sun Microsystems Inc., will be presenting at the Conference’s Security Showcase – an open theatre located on the exhibit hall floor – on Tuesday 8th October, giving a talk on “Making the Net Work Securely”. Diffie is best known for his 1975 discovery of the concept of public key cryptography and is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of e-security.

Mark Reeves, vice president EMEA at RSA Security, comments, “With just two weeks to go the Conference’s momentum is snowballing and a programme of unprecedented value is set to dazzle the delegates. I am delighted that Microsoft has increased its involvement with these new tutorials, and Whitfield Diffie’s presence brings yet more expertise and knowledge of the highest quality to the event.

“We aim to make this the best – and most accessible – conference of its kind, and to that end we are also offering One Day Passes for delegates who cannot attend the whole conference. These are now available for €750 through the RSA Conference Web site.” He concludes.

Tutorials
Microsoft’s free of charge tutorial will take place from 9:00am – 12:00pm on Monday 7th October. It will include a demonstration of the techniques commonly used by hackers to compromise Windows servers, and details on how the adoption of an in-depth security strategy can secure the Windows platform against those attacks.

Optional tutorials and immersion training sessions on the basics in Developer and Enterprise Security will be presented by RSA Security and held on 7th October from 2:00pm – 6:00pm, laying the foundation for the week ahead. Registration for the Optional Tutorials is an additional €375 to the Full Conference registration fee.

Tutorial registration is open to Full Conference delegates only.
